A Chance to Win Free Books!

Penguin's Binge Reads page on Facebook is running a big giveaway to promote the Sebastian St. Cyr Series. The idea is to put free books in the hands of readers who already love the series so that they can give the books to friends and relatives. Or as Penguin puts it:

"Mystery fans! We're looking for some of C.S. Harris's most rabid readers to help us recruit *new* fans for her amazing Sebastian St. Cyr mystery series. We'll choose 20 of you at random and send you each five copies of the very first book in the series, WHAT ANGELS FEAR, so you can share with friends and family who haven't read C.S. Harris before. Click the photo below to enter. (And please feel free to share on your own page!) U.S. fans only; must be 13 years or older."

So if you want a chance to enter and you're on Facebook, here's the link to their page:

I was planning to do my own ARC giveaway for WHO BURIES THE DEAD today, but since I've just learned about this, I'll wait a few more days. Yes, that's right: no one told me in advance that this was happening.

I've also just learned that Sweepstakes (evidently the people who handle these for Penguin) will collect information when you enter, including your public profile, friend list, email address and "likes," so I understand totally if some are not comfortable with that.

C - OK so this giveaway is only for Facebook people. But you will have something later. Thanks. Ali

I'm torn on the facebook thing. I so hate when they require you to share data. I may just do it anyway. I'm the evil person that puts "fake" data into facebook all the time. I've changed my birthdate so many times, they won't let me change it anymore without some type of verification....teee heee. Sabena

Oh and btw, having read the other books you are up against for Reviewer's Choice Awards, you win hands down. I'm a little insulted that they put you in the same category, actually. Your books are so much more well plotted and written. Sabena

Ali, I'll be doing the ARC giveaway in a few days, once this is past. I didn't have a clue they were doing this.

Sabena, I know. Although I've discovered I need a notebook to record all my BS in because it came back to bite me when everyone locked me out when I was in San Antonio.

Le Fleur, thanks for telling me this was happening! No one else did. Jeez.

Wow, seriously?? and 75 copies also. That's so annoying because you could have told your readers on here, it ends tonight :(

I know! I mean, they said they were going to do it in the future, but they never actually said "We are doing it NOW."

Jeez people!!
Tell me, why do they do the Goodreads giveaway? I'm doing it and, since it's my first novel, am trying to figure out the benefits.

With a simple giveaway, it's a way of advertising, basically. People follow the link and read about the book, and the hope is that they'll be interested enough that if they don't win it, they'll buy it any way. But I can't believe how huge this giveaway is. Seventy-five?! I think they're just hoping to attract new readers to the entire series.

And congratulations on the publication of your first book!

Thank you! It's been quite a ride :D

I know, I couldn't believe they were giving away 75!!! Pretty awesome! You're probably right, giving away that many is probably trying to attract a new crowd.
